DLT Registration Onboarding

TRAI Compliance Guide • 8 Steps • 3–7 business days

DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration is mandated by TRAI for all commercial SMS communication in India. This guide covers entity registration, header (sender ID), content template, and consent template registration on DLT portals.

What is DLT & Why is it Required?

TRAI's Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR) 2018 mandate that all businesses sending commercial SMS in India must register on a DLT blockchain platform. This ensures:

Curb unsolicited spam messages to consumers
Traceability of every commercial message
Consumer consent verification before messaging
Standardized content templates for transparency

DLT Portal Options

You can register on any one DLT portal. Registration on one portal is valid across all operators.

Prerequisites & Documents

Step-by-Step Registration Process

Register your business entity on a TRAI-approved DLT portal. This creates your unique Entity ID (Principal Entity ID) required for all subsequent registrations.

  1. 1Go to your chosen DLT portal and click "Register as Enterprise"
  2. 2Select entity type: Company / LLP / Partnership / Proprietorship / Government
  3. 3Enter company name exactly as per registration documents
  4. 4Upload PAN card, GST certificate, and incorporation documents
  5. 5Verify via OTP sent to authorized signatory's mobile
  6. 6Pay registration fee (varies by portal, typically ₹5,000–₹10,000)
  7. 7Receive Principal Entity ID (PEID) upon approval
Important: Entity name must match exactly with PAN/GST. Even minor differences (Pvt vs Private) can cause rejection. For government entities, use department letterhead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register on all DLT portals?
No. Registration on any one TRAI-approved DLT portal is sufficient. Your registration is valid across all telecom operators in India.
What is the cost of DLT registration?
Entity registration fees vary by portal — typically ₹5,000–₹10,000 (one-time). Header and template registrations are usually free or minimal charges apply.
Can QuickComm handle DLT registration for me?
Yes! Our onboarding team provides full DLT registration assistance for enterprise clients. We handle entity registration, header setup, and template creation on your behalf.
What happens if I send a non-DLT registered message?
The message will be blocked by the operator's DLT scrubbing layer. QuickComm pre-validates all messages against your registered templates to prevent failures.
How do I add new templates after initial registration?
Log in to your DLT portal, submit new templates for approval, and then update the template IDs in your QuickComm Dashboard. Approval typically takes 1–2 business days.
Is DLT required for transactional messages too?
Yes. All commercial SMS — transactional, promotional, service implicit, and service explicit — must be DLT registered. Only P2P (person-to-person) messages are exempt.
